How to keep a fantasy colour bright

Pink, blue, lilac or electric red: five habits to keep your colour vivid for as long as possible.

Fantasy colours look amazing the day you leave the salon. The trick is keeping them that way for weeks. Here's our advice:

Lukewarm or cool water. Hot water opens the cuticle and the pigment washes out.
Sulphate-free shampoo and fewer washes.
A pigmented mask in the same shade, once a week.
Heat protection before straighteners or hairdryers.
Watch out for sun and chlorine: wear a cap at the pool and beach.

Pastel shades fade faster than intense ones; that's normal. When it starts to dull, a quick toner refresh makes it look new again.
